  • To enhance per capita availability of milk, eggs, and meat including poultry meat.

  • Create employment opportunity for 5 lakh farmers in ARD Sector within 10 years.
  • Increase milk production from 1.5 million MT to 3 million MT in the next five years and 4.8 million MT by 2020.
  • Enhance sale of milk by OMFED to at least from 1 to 1.5 million litres per day in the next 5 years and 2 million MT by 2020.
  • Increase Meat production to 110 TMT per annum by 2020.
  • Increase egg production from 42 lakhs to 100 lakhs eggs per day by 2020.
  • Increase poultry meat production from 70 TMT to 100 TMT by 2020.

    In Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Service sector, the Directorate headed by a Director is enjoying the powers and functions of Heads of Department. In the Directorate, the Director is assisted by 3 Additional Director, 6 Joint Directors Level-I, 5 Deputy Directors, 10 Branch Officers and a host of supporting staff. In the field, there are 30 Chief District Veterinary Officers and 7 Joint Director level-II in charge of 30 districts and 3 FSB, 2 OBPI, VOTI & ADRI. 154 nos. of Class-I (Senior Branch) officers designated as SDVO, ADVO etc. are functioning in District level and also in sub-divisional level. 355 nos. of Class-I (Junior Branch) officers and 549 nos. of Class-II (Group-B) officers are working in block level of the State to provide Veterinary Service in field level.
    There are 2 autonomous bodies namely OMFED and OPOLFED promoting production and marketing of milk, Milk products and egg and chicken. These organizations are functioning under the aegis of Fishery & ARD Department.
