Chandra Rait resides in the village namely Sihinamunda. He is a marginal farmer below poverty line. He was financed by K.A.G.B., Tarbod on April ‘2001 under SGSY Goatry scheme. He had purchased 21 goats (including one buck). Due to his care, hard labour i.e. health check up to goats, vaccination, deworming, feedings, managements etc., he was able to produce 50 goats out of these 21 goats during 2 years. He has sold 16 goats in market and with this money he had done these following things:

  • Repaid loan Rs. 4,3000/- at Bank.
  • Conducted marriage ceremony of his son.
  • Purchase of 50 decimal land (with some quantity of personal cash).
  • Health care of his family members.
  • Study of his children.

Six goats died death claim already given to Bank, but till now claim is not allotted. Now 28 goats are with him out of which male castrated – 10 and female – 13, kids – 5. Now he is happy and maintaining smooth life with his family.

DAIRY FARMING UNDER S.G.S.Y

Village Tahansir is situated 5 kms. away from Kesinga town adjacent to the state high way road in the district of Kalahandi. The people of this village mostly depend on Agriculture to get their livelihood. The Kesinga block is the main potential area for diary cooperative society in Kalahandi district. Bhabanipatana Dairy of OMFED procures milk from different MPCS of Kalahandi district and sales milk after pasteurization and polypacking.
In order to improve economic status as well as to get balance nutrition, Maa Samaleswari S.H.G. consisting of 12 women members decided to start a diary farm under S.G.S.Y and accordingly, they availed loan of Rs. 3.40 lakhs from Allahabad Bank. In 2 phase, they purchased 18 nos of CMS cows under the technical guider of Dr. Pradeep Kumar Jena, AVAS. Now daily collection of milk from his SHG diary is 50-50 liters which is being supplied to Bhabanipatana diary. They have deposited a sum of Rs. 40,000/- towards their loan dues in the bank and getting profit of Rs. 1000 per cos. Now Smt. Shantilata Bisi is secretary and Urmila Majhi is president of Maa Samaleswari Women, SHG.

S.G.S.Y. – GOATERY OF MAA MANIKESWAR – SHG

Barabandha is a SC & ST village, located amidist of hills and forest i.e 15 kms away from main road under M. Rampur block. Twelve women members (SC-11 & ST-1) united & formed a SHG named Maa Manikeswar SHG. Due to huge Jungle area for grazing of goat, they decided to establish a goat farm under SGSY for increasing their economic status. With the help of local AVAS – Dr. Bijaya Kumar Patra, they could avail a loan of Rs. 38,800 /- each and started goat farm, with 20+1 goats, per swarozgary. Now their goat strength has come upto 250 nos. Out of sale processing of goats, they have educated their sons & daughters in school & college level. Purchased gold ornaments for their nose & ear, kept lands on lease basis etc. In addition to this goatery they have also started fish farming and got profit of Rs. 70,000/-. Now, they have repaid a sum of Rs. 1.20 lakhs in the bank towards their loan dues and living happily.

Now they have put on shoes & chapal on their foots instead of going on bare feet. Smt. Sushama Pradhan of LAC Barabandha is taking care of the health of the goats by regular follow up. Now Smt. Manjuri Suna is the secretary & Smt. Sudura Suan is the president of this women SHG.

SUCCESS Story ON DAIRY DEVELOPMENT UNDER S. G. S. Y. OF BALASORE DIST.

Chandimata S.H.G.Patharghata in Rasalpur G.P. of Bhograi block was formed during 2002-03. 12 women beneficiaries of the village formed the S.H.G. & opted the Dairy scheme for the upliftment of their livelihood. During April-2003-12 Nos of milch cow was purchased and supplied to the beneficiaries. UCO Bank Bhograi financed Rs1,68.000/- for dairy scheme on procurement of cows daily average milk production was around 90 litres/ day. The beneficiaries fed the animals with local market feed and the milk was sold in the market. By that time there was no organized milk market which was subsequently created by OMFED. Out of the stock of cow supplied the highest yield was 15 litres and average milk yeild of the cows around 8 litres. Management by the sworojgaris is excellent and till now the cows maintains good health & vigour. The sexual healths of all the cows are without any Gyanaecological problems. There is a production of 70 liters of milk now. At present there are 32 nos of animals with the group as follows.
Perent stock cow – 12 Nos
Female – Calves-12 Nos
Male – Calves- 08 Nos
3 cows now are in pregnant stage. The repayment of loan by the group is outstanding. An amount of Rs 80,000 has been paid towards repayment of loan.
On assessment it was confirmed that after repayment of loan each swarojgary has received net profit of Rs 7,800=00 from inception. The dairy unit of the above S.H. G. is a successful programme in diary sector of Balasore district.

SUCCESS STORY OF SRI SRI RADHAGOBINDA SHG, VILLAGE/ P.O. NARASINGHPUR OF RANAPUR BLOCK IN NAYAGARH DISTRICT FINANCED UNDER S. G. S. Y. DURING THE YEAR 2001-2002.

Village Narasinghpur is 7 Kms. distance from Ranapur. 12 unemployed persons from BPL families were united and formed a Self Help Group on 1.4.2000 under the guidance of Sri K.C.Das VLW of Ranapur Block. They started saving Rs 50/- each per month and opened their S.B.Account in their Service Area Bank IOB Mayurjhalia. They passed Grade-1 on 13.1.2001. The members decided to establish poultry Farm in their own effort. The name of the SHG was recommended to DRDA, Nayagarh for sanction or Revolving fund. The SHG received Revolving fund Rs. 10,000/- from DRDA, Nayagarh and started the Farm. In the mean while SHG passed Gr.ii test on 23.7.2001 conducted by Bank Manager and P.A. of Ranapur Block. The three member committee selected the Group for finance under SGSY scheme on 31.8.2001. A project report was prepared for an amount of Rs.2,50,000/- and the loan proposal of the Group was sponsored to Bank on 22.9.2001.It was sanctioned and an amount of Rs.60,000/- was disbursed to them for construction of farm house. The farm house was completed and the 2nd installment was released by Bank. The farm was inaugurated by Sri R.C. Mohanty , B.D.O. Ranapur on 23.11.2001. They have named their farm ‘Ma Ranapur Broiler Farm”. Since then 2 members are working each day on turn. They have sold 10 batches bird out of which their net profit is Rs.52,000/- The members are working 5 to 6 days in a month and getting profit Rs.350/- to Rs.400/- They are rearing 1800 birds of different stages. Their second farm is under construction. They have constructed their office- cum- storeroom and holding their meetings there. They are very much happy with their job.. They have planned to expand their farm gradually and keep 5000 birds.

SUCCESS STORY OF INDIRA MAHILA SANCHAYA SAMITI (SHG) VILLAGE- NATIMI P.O. NARASINGHPUR OF RANAPUR BLOCK IN NAYAGARH DISTRICT FINANCED UNDER SGSY DURING THE YEAR 2001-2002

The women of village National Adibasisahi were very poor, uneducated, backward and innocent. They were keeping them away when any official comes to their village world Vision, a leading NGO of Ranapur Block united these women and formed a self Help Group, namely Indira Mahila Sanchaya samiti. The members saved Rs.10/- in primary stage and increased their savings gradually. They opened a joint Savings Bank account in their service area Bank i.e. IOB Mayurjhalia Branch. The Group was graded by the Bank and Block officials on 16.5.2000 and DRDA, Nayagarh sanctioned Rs.10,000/- Revolving Fund in favour of the Group. After receipt of Revolving Fund from DRDA and financial help from world vision, the members of the Group purchased 30 goats and managed them by turn. The group passed Gr.ii test on 24.1.2001 by three member committee. A project report was prepared amounting to Rs.3,20,000/- for the proposed ideal goat farm. The loan proposal was sponsored by B.D.O. Ranapur Block to IOB, Mayurjhalia on 22.9.2001. The proposal was sanctioned and Bank disbursed Rs.80,000/- on 8.11.2001 for construction of farm house. Bank released working capital and 75 does , 8 bucks were purchased by the members. The new farm was started on 15..2002. Now there are 110 goat including 27 kids within 5 months time.4 members are taking charge of the farm for one month in turn. They are managing their goat farm very smoothly. By the effort of Block, Bank ,NGO and line department, awareness has been created among the S.T. women. Now they are talking with the officials freely and placing their difficulties before the authorities. It is hopped that after 2 years, they will sell 120 goats in each year and get net profit of Rs. 500/- each in a month in lieu of 5 to 6 day’s labour. They have planned to purchase another 50 does very soon. The S.T. women of the interior village have been developed both economically and socially.

SUCCESS STORY OF WOMEN DEVELOPMENT SOCIETY VILLAGE- BARAMULA P.O. – GOURANGAPUR OF RANAPUR BLOCK IN NAYAGARH DISTRICT FINANCED UNDER SGSY DURING THE YEAR 2000-2001

Village Baramul is 5 Kms, distant from Ranapur.15 women from BPL families were united and formed a self Help Group namely ‘women Development Society’ on 13.7.98 world Vision, a leading NGO of Ranapur Block promoted the SHG. The group was graded and passed Gr. I and Gr. Ii test. DRDA, Nayagarh sanctioned revolving Fund Rs.10,000/- to this SHG. The members were interested on cow rearing. The group was selected under SGSY on 21.9.2000. A project report was prepared for Rs.3,64,000/- for the common dairy unit. The loan proposal was sponsored to PGB, Darpanarayanpur by B,D.O. Ranapur. It was sanctioned and money was disbursed to them for construction of shed. They constructed a common shed within the stipulated period. Then working capital was disbursed and 15 no. milk cows were procured from Andhra Pradesh. The scheme was grounded and started on 26.3.2001. They have named their unit ‘Suravi Dairy Farm’-3 members are working on each day in turn. At present they are producing 90 liters of milk per day and selling to Puri Milk Union (PUMUL). They are taking ½ liter milk to their home daily. Dr. B. K. Parida. Addl. V.A.S. Ranapur and Sri. G.C. Maharana, PA, Ranapur Block are giving proper advice for smooth management of the farm. Now they are above to cure ordinary diseases of the cows. The secretary of the Group have undergone A.I. training at Kalyani farm and doing it successfully. The members are very much happy with their job. They have taken 3 acre land adjacent to farm and doing fodder cultivation. They are getting Rs.400/- each in a month by 6 day’s labour in a month. Now the women have become earning member of their family.
